Tirzah awakened on the day of her wedding filled with excitement.
The family was hosting the wedding at their home.
"Get busy, Genesis. There are so many things to do."
Everyone needed to pitch in and help.
Lilith was determined to bake her daughter's wedding cake.
Exhausted, Lilith needed to sit after baking the wedding cake. She enjoyed chatting with Tirzah as her daughter ate her morning meal.
Delilah giggled with her sister as they finalized plans for the day. Delilah shoved aside the thoughts of her sister moving so far away.
Tirzah went upstairs to dress for the wedding.
Despite her weak spells, Lilith was brimming with excitement. She could not stop chattering, even when she and Jair played a game. Delilah and Annia handled the rest of the preparations.
The time for the wedding arrived and the vows were made before the family.
Jair was happy to see Tahash. Yejide could not come as she was expecting another babe.
Lilith struggled with catching her breath and the dizziness that threatened to overwhelm her.
Lilith was proud of her family and so very pleased that Tirzah found a mate and home that filled her with joy.
"Mother, will you come visit Kojo and me soon?"
"Of course, my dearest Tirzah. I shall come as soon as I can."
But Lilith knew that it was not likely. But she'd promise her daughter the moon to keep from marring her happiness on the joyous day.
Far too soon the wedding was over. The family was still talking about the wedding at the evening meal.
The wedding reminded Annia of when she met Genesis and he became her mate. She was feeling rather romantic.
When Lilith awakened the next morning, she climbed out of her bed. And felt very odd. Something wasn't right...
Despite the sun's rising, the light began to dim. It seemed as if her heart no longer wished to beat. She cried out for help as the blackness closed in.
She understood that it was time to enter the Great Sleep. She let the darkness overtake her.
She was not afraid, yet sad that she was leaving her family behind.
Genesis had heard his mother cry out and raced up to her room.
He knew she had lived many days longer than most, but he was not ready to lose her.
He begged the Grim not to take her. But Lilith had lived 134 days. The Grim could not be swayed.
Lilith would cross the veil that separates the living from The Light.
Jair was awakened by his brother's sobs and arrived to find his mother gone.
The sons carried their mother's remains to the top of the home where she used to salute the sun. They created a place of peace and honor for her.
Annia and Delilah come up to mourn the loss of their mother.
The family went through the motions of the day, their hearts heavy.
When Varinia and Atticus arrived home, they were informed of their loss. Genesis sent them upstairs to honor their grandmother.
As they went through the evening, they missed the great presence of their matriarch.
"I completed another story today, Genesis."
"Mother loved your stories, Jair. What is this one called?"
"The Fox and the Crow."*
*Excellent
