Time Marches On

Lilith was grateful for Jair's paintings, even if he'd rather write than paint these days. She fondly looked at the painting of Tahash as a child and proudly of the one of him as a new groom, when she came down for breakfast.

She hoped Tahash was enjoying his new life, in his new home. She was very certain that he was enjoying his new bride. The happiness had radiated from him on his wedding day.

Now that the garden was bringing in sufficient money, she didn't need to dig up relics. But it had became a habit of hers, walking through the desert and seeking treasures. She enjoying discovering something new that she had never seen before and add it to her growing collection.

Delilah was becoming rather talented with her lyre. She played every free moment she had.

Tirzah remembered Delilah taking the time to play with her, so she took the time to play with Varinia.

Lilith knew that her silver years would be soon upon her. She made it a priority to salute the sun to stay limber. She enjoyed surveying the desert from the top of her home. She indeed, felt as if she was Queen of the Desert.

Jair decided to start writing down the stories that he told to the children.

Genesis felt relieved to have help with his crops. But no one that worked for him was as talented or as diligent as Tahash. There was still a heavy workload for him.

Delilah was no longer a teen, but now a young adult. Her newest trait was: Materialistic.

"These flat cakes are with berries are good," Genesis said with his mouth full.

"Mmmmmhmmmm," Jair replied. He was determined to complete his first book.

Annia didn't even want to look at the hot cakes, she wasn't feeling very well.

Jair completed his first story. He called it "The Serpent and the Eagle".*

Annia still felt unwell and could scarcely face food as they broke their fast.

"Mother, can we go into town, so I can play my lyre in the town square? I like earning money of my own."

"If that's what you'd like, Delilah." Lilith wondered if her older daughter might ever look at a man that way that she looked are her lyre.

Lilith was amazed at the crowd her daughter drew as she played, they offered offered coins in appreciation.

Lilith used the opportunity to catch up on the latest gossip.Thankfully, no one hardly mentioned Adam now. Lilith was ready to leave that part of her behind her. She was still an attractive woman that drew looks from men, but she had no interest in a husband. She was the product of an era where men did not rule over woman. She had no intention of playing by the new rules.

When Lilith and Delilah finally returned home, Tirzah was fishing and Jair saluting the sun. And sweet little Varinia pulled Delilah aside to tell her about her day.

Annia shared the news that she was expecting another baby. Lilith was as delighted as Annia and Genesis.

The days passed by with each family pursuing their individual activities as well as coming together as a family.

Annia shared the delightful news with Varinia: Varinia was going to be a big sister.

When Lilith awakened, she realized her silver years were upon her. It was difficult getting out of her soft bed on the floor.

"Genesis, it is no longer easy for me to rise from my bedding. When I was in town with Delilah, I saw a raised bed in a wooden frame off the floor. We have enough money for each of us to have one."

"Yes, Mother, I will see to it." Genesis was sad that his mother's days with him would be coming to an end sooner than later.

Varinia decided she would do all the digging for her beloved grandmother from now own.

"Mother, I have news that arrived this morning. Tahash is now a father. Yejide birthed twin sons."

"Oh, that is wonderful. I am a grandmother of three, soon to be four. After Annia safely delivers her babe, I shall journey to visit him. I will visit the sea before it is too difficult for me to travel."

Lilith kept up with her salutations. She wasn't ready to sit about all day.

"Lilith, I know you care not for news of Adam and his new family, but something horrible has happened."

Lilith sighed. She didn't see how this would even matter to her.

"His oldest son murdered his younger brother!"

"What?"

Yes, the older son has now left Adam, Eve and their tribe. He's fled this desert land for parts unknown. Adam and Eve had another son, but Adams days are very short. He may have even passed as I tell you this."

Lilith shook her head sadly, not bothering to correct the man that Genesis was Adam's true oldest son. Then she asked, "Who didn't see this coming?"

Remenbering her manners, she smiled gratefully at the man for the news. "I appreciate your sharing this. I am now happy that Adam did not speak of his former life here. I'd hate to think of my family becoming a target of a jealous, vengeful man."

Jair completed his second book: The Ant and the Grasshopper.*

Without needing to labor anymore, Lilith was enjoying her silver days by not only keeping her body limber, but also her mind sharp and spending time with her family.

That night Lilith was delighted to sleep in her new raised bed.

* Both books were "Excellent".

Delilah has now earned a total of $398 in playing the violin.
