The Second Born Arrives

Lilith and Genesis unhappily faced the bushes for toileting first thing in the morning.

They were out of fish again, so they reluctantly ate carrots and blackberries to temporarily quiet their empty bellies.

While Lilith bathed, her men went fishing.

Lilith watered the garden for Adam.

The frequent hungers pains disturbed Lilith. How would they ever accomplish great things if they could barely feed themselves?

Thankfully Adam was a good fisherman.

While she was out gathering, she ran across one of the Others at another fishing spot. He showed her his little fish. She kept her tongue quiet and didn't tell him size matters.

With more fish caught, they could fill their bellies and focus on their day.

Lilith found herself exhausted and needing a nap.

Sometimes Adam liked to take a break and tell Genesis stories.

Shortly after she fell asleep, Lilith was awakened by a familiar feeling: the quickening of life. Paolo's seed was strong.

It was nice to have fish ready when you awoke and and your belly was empty.

It was not nice to awaken needing to pee and have to walk across the camp with your knees locked. But the revolting bushes couldn't be moved any closer to where they slept.

Genesis was a good boy and did not protest when his mother expected him to bath.

Genesis was gloomy when his mother told him he needed to fish while his father crafted items to sell. She promised him that if he fished well today, he could leave camp tomorrow to play with the Other children.

Lilith struggled with feeling ill as she dug through the day.

Lilith dreaded telling Adam she was with child. Would he cast her out?

To her surprise, Adam scarcely reacted at all. He simply said something about another mouth to feed, but another child to help. And that was that.

Adam was a good father to Genesis. He took the time to play with him and tell stories around the evening fire.

Much to Lilith's humiliation she failed to make it across camp to the bushes. Being with child was hard on a woman.

It turns out that even Adam had a limit to how much filth he could bear. He actually bathed without prompting.

Adam's crops were growing well.

His family was well fed for the most part, even if Lilith was sick of fish.

Genesis was happy to leave camp to visit his friend (Note: Not wanting to risk social services taking the children, I'll send the children to school most of the time). He promised to fish as soon as he arrived back at camp. His parents went about their day as usual.

As promised, Genesis fished as soon as he returned from his friend's camp. Lilith watched the men fish as she nibbled on berries to keep the hunger pains at bay until the evening fire could be built. She looked enviously at the clear waters wishing she could bath in them. But she was wise enough to know that cleansing at the fishing spots would taint the water and fish. It was more important to have good food than to feel clean.

Just before the evening meal, Lilith told Genesis he was going to be a big brother. She worried that he might be jealous, but he was excited.

Despite the hardships, life was not entirely unpleasant for the First Family.

Lilith felt like a mother bird with the urge to feather her nest. She told Adam she wanted him to help her create a sitting spot with a skin rug.

Adam thought she was being ridiculous and told Lilith he had work to do. He didn't have time for such foolishness.

But Lilith was accustomed to getting her way. So she bartered with some of the Others for the items she wanted, offering items she dug up in trade. She now had a sitting area with a double seat, a rug, a rock to sit some of her artifacts on and a couple of toys for Genesis.

Lilith enjoying sitting on the seat with a comfortable back in the shade. She was pleased with herself.

In the dark after everyone had went into the tents to sleep, Lilith was awakened by the pains of birth. She birthed another son and named him: Jair. Exhausted and barely able to stand, she returned to her tent to rest after tending to her Second Born.
